Dear Mr. Gibson:

I have to admit that I’m a bit disappointed in the article you wrote about the 3-hour plus opera. Your article suggests that perhaps you didn’t see the production, saw very little of it, or did not pay attention.

I was present both nites; while it could have been very tedious for those who do not appreciate opera, one couldn’t help realize the magnitude of the efforts of a highly dedicated cast.

Also, there were several major characters that you didn’t even bother to mention. Your article didn’t even mention Figaro himself, a huge oversight when the producton was named The Marriage of Figaro. Additionally, the Countess, also a major character, was ignored. The Count’s performance was to be lauded for sure, however, your article should have been more inclusive of the STUDENTS. Isn’t this what VCU is about?
