Baseball reaches 20-win mark with 9-6 victory against Cincinnati

Tuesday night VCU Baseball defeated Cincinnati in the first game of a two-game series. The Rams have reached the 20th win mark and hope to earn their 21st in the second game in the series.

Two VCU players hit big for the Rams. Senior right fielder Justin Mattison went three for four, scoring three runs and freshman Gabe Riley earned a career-high four runs.

Men’s Tennis wins ninth straight, 7-0

VCU Men’s Tennis have won their ninth straight match and 25th straight victory at home. The No. 13 team beat the University of Colorado, 7-0 on Tuesday.

No. 1 doubles pair Florian Marquardt and Pedro Nieto had an 8-3 win against Justin Hunter and Chad Tsuda from Colorado.

The Yellow Skin Theatre, a very bold and politically incorrect acting troupe, was invented to shine a light on the most complacent people in America, the Asian-Americans. Its founding father is Wesley Du, a senior at VCU, and the writer of “American Chinks Reborn,” which was performed at the Richard Newdick Theatre this year.

The film industry certainly got it right when they named “Chicago” best picture, as well as giving the golden boy to Catherine Zeta-Jones for Best Supporting Actress. One can only hope that quality musicals like this one and “Moulin Rouge” will continue to be produced in Hollywood.

Being a resident of Virginia all my life, I’m sure I’ll be correct in saying that ol’ man winter definitely hit us hard this year. Each week there was a chance of having some type of snow flurry or snowstorm. Temperatures seemed to be the lowest of low and winds added to this coldness.

Bankos addresses disparity, lack of funding for Virginia’s public schools

Education-funding methods, statewide disparity in education, the Virginia General Assembly, teachers and students who technically do not exist were just a few topics Jean Bankos discussed when she recently visited VCU’s Academic Campus.

The VCU Young Democrats sponsored the event featuring Bankos, the president of the Virginia Education Association, an organization that focuses on improving children’s success in learning and upgrading the overall learning institution.

Rumsfeld: Operation Iraqi Freedom on target

A massive ground battle took place in the Euphrates Valley Tuesday, killing between 150 to 200 Iraqi soldiers, Pentagon officials said. Coalition forces have moved more than 200 miles into Iraq in less than five days, said Gen. Richard Myers, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
