Dyke and Adam dominate as team places top-two at three invitationals
Under director of cross country Nicole Cook, the men’s and women’s cross country teams have captured top-two finishes in all three meets this season. The Rams finished second overall in the Longwood/Adidas Cross Country Invitational on Sept. 19 and finished second in the William and Mary Cross Country Invitational on Sept. 12. In the opening meet of the season, the Rams placed first overall in the Virginia State Invitational on Sept. 5.
Rowdy Rams memberships roll out for third year
In recent years, Rowdy Ram memberships have become a hot commodity, due in part to the increasing popularity of VCU sports. These memberships are distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis and as a result can be difficult to obtain. For the 2014-15 school year, the Rowdy Ram memberships have already sold out, although specific figures were not available by press time. Last year, the estimated 1500 membership tally sold out in just under one day. In the 2012-13 school year, the RR memberships sold out in less than 12 hours.
Men’s golf open season
VCU men’s golf team took part in the Gopher Invitational this past weekend to kick off their 2014-15 season. The three round Invitational was played Sept. 7-8, and was hosted by the University of Minnesota at Windsong Farm Golf Club. The Rams finished ninth in the tournament with a score of 862.
Men’s soccer start season 2-1 in three games played at home
After three straight home games at Sports Backer Stadium to open the 2014-15 campaign, the VCU men’s soccer team are one game over .500, posting a 2-1 record to start the season.
Lady Rams drop season opener to Virginia Tech
The VCU women’s soccer team dropped their 2014-15 season opener against fifth ranked Virginia Tech 6-0 on Friday, Aug. 22 after splitting two exhibition scrimmages played prior to the start of the season.
