VCU men’s golf team took part in the Gopher Invitational this past weekend to kick off their 2014-15 season. The three round Invitational was played Sept. 7-8, and was hosted by the University of Minnesota at Windsong Farm Golf Club. The Rams finished ninth in the tournament with a score of 862.

For VCU, junior Steffen Harm finished tied for seventh in a field of 75 with a total score of 216, posting rounds of 71-69-76. His efforts earned him the Atlantic 10 golfer of the week. The seventh place finish was Harm’s fifth career top-15 finish in his collegiate career.

Junior Adam Ball also placed in the top-20 for individuals, as he posted rounds of 76-72-74 for a total score of 222.

As a team, VCU finished ninth overall in a field of 15 with a final score of 902.

Next up, VCU travels to participate in the Tar Heel Intercollegiate Sept. 12-14, where they look to improve from their fifth place finish out of 14 teams last season.
