South African jazz musicians will perform side-by-side with VCU students Sept. 24 as part of a cultural exchange program with the university’s sister school KwaZulu-Natal University in Durban, South Africa.
Richmond offers students more than just summer classes, work and a hot sun. In June, July and August, the city will host a number of festivals that VCU students can afford. Here are just some of the summer activities and festivals available to the students still in town.

Antonio Garcia is no stranger to the spotlight — in fact, just a few months ago he wrote, arranged and performed a piece with VCU Jazz alumni at Nelson Mandela’s U.S. memorial service in Washington, D.C. This month, Garcia will lead Jazz Orchestra I when they perform at the Singleton Center on Feb. 13.
