Night Lights, Jan. 12.

In an ongoing exploration of Richmond as well as other surrounding areas, I have found how easy it is for one to forget about the history a building holds. The feeling of abandonment of many of the places I have shot over the past year come from elements like the disintegration of bricks, to the peeling of paint, to cracks on the road. When shooting, life at one o’clock in the morning consists of one passing car every ten minutes and I begin to understand the importance of all living things. There would not be the absence of life if there was not life there to begin with. With the guidance of streetlights that have been erected by the city for safety, my study of the mysteries behind these forgotten buildings in urban or rural environments is kept constant. As this series changes with time, I keep in mind the original reason I started this project: to break down the assumptions that only danger comes out of the night, and to establish a new idea that the aesthetics of the night can be shown with a camera.
