My roommate and I were discussing a documentary she’d seen, which showed how detrimental and widespread the use of corn syrup and other corn products can be. High-fructose corn syrup is in everything, and it’s not good for you. I got to thinking: With how frequently food is genetically modified, and how widespread the use of corn products is, couldn’t the industry basically modify food, say a cantaloupe, to where it was no longer real fruit, but instead has the same basic properties as corn? It’s disturbing and terrifying that one day we could be eating that —eating corn cantaloupe.
