Photo of the day: Throw back to the Sun Belt

Full disclosure: we here at The CT Sports department are already using the vintage shot below in our scouting report on Seton Hall. But this bad boy is such a classic, we decided it must have a page of its own page as well.

We pulled this old cover, circa March 1988, out from the much storied and hallowed CT Sports vault that’s housed at a secret location. OK, actually, we just pulled it off of VCU Library’s online archives of The Commonwealth Times. 

But where we got it from is neither here nor there. The point is, VCU’s men’s basketball team is in one of the 11 states in what’s considered America’s “Sun Belt” in South Carolina for the Charleston Classic– a place they must have frequented with much more regularity when they played in the Sun Belt Conference from 1979 to 1991.
