After celebrating its 25th birthday last year, the self-proclaimed “largest step show in Virginia” returns to the Siegel Center this Saturday, Sept. 24 at 6 p.m. to wrap up another spirited week of Fall Block events.
Teams from each of the”Divine Nine” National Pan-Hellenic Council fraternities and sororities, led and choreographed by a “stepmaster” or “stepmistress,” will perform and compete in an all-out step competition.
The routines will reflect each team’s interpretation of this year’s theme, “State of Emergency.”
Each of the week’s events leading up to Saturday have already played into the theme, with titles like “Ring the Alarm” (relay games in the Commons Plaza on Tuesday) and “Lifesaving Efforts” (the CAA Blood Drive in the Commons on Wednesday).
On Friday, Sept. 23, the Fall Block Stepper Mix and Mingle – titled “Calm Before the Storm” – will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Richmond Salons at the Commons.
Saturday night won’t conclude with the step show: An after party is scheduled at the Greater Richmond Convention Center.
Tickets have been on sale in the Break Points Game Room in the University Commons since Sept. 1. The after-party tickets, at $15 per VCU student, are more expensive than the actual performance.
