The Beta Nu chapter of the Fraternity of Alpha Kappa Lamba held its 23rd annual “Halloween Watch” last night.
Between 6:30 and 8:30 p.m., members of VCU’s fraternity and sorority communities patrolled the Fan, ensuring that children trick-or-treated in a safe environment.
According to Alpha Kappa Lambda’s president Richard Deleo, nearly 300 hundred fraternity and sorority members covered the area between Lombardy and Strawberry streets and Floyd and Monument Avenues.
Organizers also sold bright orange and black “Halloween Watch” T-shirts and donated proceeds to Safe Harbor, a local organization that offers shelter and resources to victims of domestic violence.
