SPORTS: Breaking News: VCU leads Delaware 37-21 at the half

RICHMOND- VCU leads 37-21 at the half over the 12-seed Delaware in the second game of the day at the CAA Tournament at the Richmond Coliseum.
After the Blue Hens tied the game at eight at 15:38, the Rams’ defense held them without a field goal until the 9:11 mark. In that span, VCU was able to go on a 9-0 run and thanks to red-hot outside shooting from three (7-12 in the half) held the lead until half.
Ed Nixon (St. Petersburg, Fla./Lakewood) nailed a three with four seconds remaining to give VCU it’s largest lead of the game, 16, at the break.
Bradford Burgess (Midlothian/Benedictine) leads the way at the half for VCU with 10 points. Joey Rodriguez (Oviedo/Lake Howell) contributed nine to the Ram’ effort.
Larry Sanders (Fort Pierce, Fla./Port St. Lucie) grabbed nine rebounds in the first, contributing to the 19-17 advantage VCU had on the boards.
Alphonso Dawson led the way for Delaware with five.
The winner of this game faces the four-seed in tomorrow’s 2:30 tip off.
