SPORTS: Breaking News: Towson crushes UNCW in opener

RICHMOND- After sprinting to an early 9-4 lead the high-energy eight seed, Towson, never looked back and cruised past the Seahawks, 91-74.
From the game’s outset, the Tigers used their pressure to force turnover after turnover and showed flashes offensively of the team which was the Cinderella story in the 2009 CAA tournament.
The Tigers never trailed in the game.
The Tigers were put five players in double figures with a 50 percent (31-61) day shooting. RaShawn Polk led all scorers with 20 points. Towson also had great contributions from Troy Franklin (18 points), Isaiah Philmore (14), Josh Thorntorn (13) and Ettrick Product Calvin Lee (12).
The Tigers forced UNCW into 18 turnovers and out rebounded the Seahawks, 34-31.
Dominique Lacy scored 13 to lead Wilmington, who finishes the season with a record of 9-22.
Towson advances to play top-seeded Old Dominion in tomorrow’s noon game.
