In three-plus seasons, the VCU men’s basketball program has racked up more wins than it has in any other three-year span in school history.

Only one player has been in Richmond through it all: T.J. Gwynn (Burlington, NC/Cummings).

In addition to beating JMU and celebrating senior night, Gwynn also passed Eric Maynor for the VCU career-win mark, taking part in his 96th victory.

“I am really excited to have it and it is a great big honor for me,” Gwynn said. “There have been so many great players to come through VCU … I am just excited that I finally got it.”

Gwynn was recruited by former VCU coach Jeff Capel as part of the 2005 class.

Since red shirting in the 2005-2006 season, Gwynn has been a consistent contributor for the Rams.
The forward has scored in double figures four times this season, with the highlight coming in the Richmond game where he scored 20 points and kept the Rams alive in the first half.

Gwynn’s career high came in a 2007 game against William & Mary in which he scored 22.

He was named to the CAA All-Rookie team during his red-shirt-freshman year in 2006-2007, when the Rams upset Duke in the first round of the NCAA tournament, Gwynn’s departure makes him the final player on that legendary team to leave VCU.
