Basketball ticket sales flourish
Season-ticket price increases, an ongoing economic recession, and the departure of star-player Eric Maynor and head coach Anthony Grant might lead students to think university basketball ticket sales will suffer. Wrong.
VIDEO: VCU community response to the budget cuts
In response to a lack of funding and state support, VCU plans to eliminate 91 jobs over the next two years, including 37 faculty. The university also plans to eliminate the “free zone” that charges students the same amount, whether they take 12 credits or 18.
VCU plans to have a significant tuition increase for the next academic year.
These decisions were reached at the recent Board of Visitor’s meeting on Nov. 12. We asked members of the VCU community for their opinions.

Men’s basketball drops game at Western Michigan
After taking as much as an 18-point lead in the first ten minutes of its game Wednesday night, VCU lost at Western Michigan by a score of 83-67.
Men’s soccer coach let go
According to a press release received Tuesday, VCU men’s soccer coach Tim O’Sullivan’s contract has not been renewed for the 2010 season.
O’Sullivan spent 15 season on the VCU sideline piecing together a record of 148-118-35.
The best years of the O’Sullivan tenure came between 2002-2004 when he led VCU to three consecutive CAA regular season titles.
Volleyball wins CAA regular season, clinches home court
After winning 11 out of its final 12 matches to end the regular season, the VCU volleyball team clinched the CAA regular season title with Sunday’s win over UNC Wilmington.
