Winter coat drive warms hearts, bodies
Winter coats are being collected for students who are enrolled in the YMCA after-school program and who live in recessed neighborhoods of the Richmond area through a new program that thrives off the donations of students and the Richmond community.
Police supervision prevents traffic jams
Getting to class on time can be difficult for many students, especially on an urban campus. VCU police have stationed officers to direct traffic during peak hours to help with the problem.
Fundraiser invites students to help struggling families
The Christmas Grub Fund, founded by Green in summer 2009, helps needy families by providing them with food, cookbooks and money-saving tips during the holidays and throughout the year. This Christmas, Green is reaching out to VCU students and asking them to get involved.
Lights back on, 24/5 provided despite lacking resources
Beginning Dec. 6 through Dec. 15, the James Branch Cabell Library will reinstate the Library Lite All Nite 24/5 program for students during exams for the fall semester.

Taking two in Jersey
Coming off a big win against Virginia Tech last week, the VCU women’s basketball team (3-0) won two games at the Anaconda Sports “The Rock” SHU Basketball Classic at Seton Hall University in South Orange, N.J.
“Our goal was to come in here and win this tournament,” VCU Coach Beth Cunningham said.
CAA tourney comes to Richmond
With all the excitement surrounding the new basketball season it is easy to forget that VCU will be hosting the CAA volleyball tournament for the first-time this week.
The Rams finished the 2009 regular season 24-8, with a 12-2 mark in the CAA and with late-season wins over Delaware and George Mason, VCU was able to seal the regular season title.
What a night in Richmond
As I walked out of the Stuart C. Siegel Center Saturday night I couldn’t help but think that I had just been present for one of the most special moments in the history of a program,
I don’t want to make it more than it is: one game, but to think that just three nights before, this team played about as bad a game as it could have played is mind boggling.
