ACC Atlantic Division

Boston College will have to continue playing great defense to make any noise in the Atlantic Division. The Eagles ranked 94th in total offense last season but the defense ranked fifth in the country.

The Eagles did not sign any recruits who are expected to give the team an immediate impact on offense.

ACC Coastal Division

Duke finished last season with four victories. This doesn’t sound impressive until you consider that the Blue Devils only won four games in the previous four seasons. Senior Thaddeus Lewis returns at quarterback, and with six other returning offensive starters, Duke could make a run at a bowl bid, its first since 1991.

Favre just made my list

It takes a lot to get on my most hated athlete list. I’m a die-hard sports fan who has defended many athletes whom even most in the sports world have turned its back on.

But Tuesday, I had to add another one to my list: Brett Favre.

I have never really been a fan of his, but this retire-or-play garbage has once again given me nothing short of an intense migraine.

Stacking them up, or lack there of

The NBA season ended when the Lakers defeated the Magic in the finals. After this year’s NBA playoffs, both old and new comparisons were given life between current players and former players. This is what the NBA is known for. Although some might be accurate, these comparisons are often stupid.

Improvements to new Cary St. Gym

Construction started on the new Cary Street Gym in the spring of 2008 and a number of enhancements are being added.

“The goal for the new Cary Street Gym was to expand and enhance it,” said Tom Diehl, the director of VCU Recreational Sports. “We want to attract a diverse group of people to the new gym.

Jazz take Maynor with 20th pick

Eric Maynor became the first Ram taken in the first round of the NBA draft this past Thursday when the Utah Jazz took the point guard with the 20th pick.

“I am excited to be a Utah Jazz,” Maynor said at an introductory press conference in Salt Lake City this past Friday.

VCU shows true diversity

Cultural organizations gathered in the Commonwealth Ballrooms to recruit new students Wednesday evening at the Multicultural Village and Taste of Culture.

The festivities included food, games and education, as students mingled their way through different stations representing the various cultures at VCU.
