Anthony Grant headed to Alabama

After a week of waiting, Ram Nation finally got the answer to its question concerning the future of men’s basketball coach Anthony Grant.

Let’s talk about Iraq: Traveling exhibition prompts campus curiosity

A striking visual component is hitched to the back of the “It Is What It Is: Conversations About Iraq” RV. Artist Jeremy Deller and guests speakers displayed the remains of a car left over from a bombing that occurred back in March 2007 in Baghdad.

The traveling exhibition made its first campus stop at VCU Friday in the University Student Commons Theater.

French film

Following a packed schedule of screenings, master classes and presentations, the French Delegation for the Richmond French Film Festival and dozens of French cinema fans migrated from Carytown to VCU’s Scott House for schmoozing and celebrating.

Francophiles of all ages perused the tasty treats courtesy of A Sharper Palate, Sophisticated Soirees, Millie’s and others.

Film tackles taboo subject

After screening the film “Cliente” at the Byrd Theatre Saturday, director, screenwriter, producer and actress Josiane Balasko said she did not judge characters portrayed in her film. This might be surprising considering the film portrays the lives of a French gigolo, his client and his pimping wife.

Fashion show Dresses as ‘Karneval’ adventure

STRUT kicked off its “Karneval” themed fashion show Saturday to a packed audience captured by the mix of comedy, music, dance and fashion. Participants slipped into their roles of ring leader, bearded lady, Siamese twins, a half-man, half-woman and a tattooed girl.

Letter to the Editor

Dear Editor,

I had the privilege of traveling with the VCU Young Democrats this past weekend to Charlottesville for their annual Virginia Young Democrat State Convention at UVA. This is where all chapters of Young Democrats converge to deal with organizational business, network with other Young Democrats, and most importantly-to have fun.

Senate votes Tesfaye not guilty

The senate of the Monroe Park Campus Student Government Association found Tsion Tesfaye not guilty at a hearing today on all of the three charges of impeachment.

Editor’s Clarification

In the last issue, we misspelled the name Tsion Tesfaye once in the article “Pending impeachment charges.” Tesfaye’s name was also misspelled in the news teaser on the cover. Corrections have been made on the Web site. We apologize for any misrepresentation.
