Rams turn it on late, beat Tulane
Going into Friday night, the VCU Rams were looking to bounce back from a tough loss at North Carolina last Sunday. The team did just that against Tulane in a third-round consolation game of the WNIT, 63-49.
Early in the first half, the Rams appeared to be playing flat.

Rams vs. Rams VCU halted at Rhode Island
Both VCU and Rhode Island are coming off an NIT appearance last season. Both have a recent down-to-the-wire game against Duke. They even share the Ram as a mascot. Saturday night, the programs vied for some separation at the Thomas M. Ryan Center.

Rockers thrive on change
The first time guitarists Benji Willis and Sean Vass met was when Willis was handing out flyers for Gandhi’s birthday. Vass fondly recalls the moment, admitting he was wondering who the “hippie from Australia” was. Little did they know they would not only end up being good friends, but become band mates in the heavy-atmospheric-rock band Skip Cycle.
‘Shadow Play’ fades away
After three successful weekends, “Shadow Play” has come to a close. Described by many in the theatre department as the most innovative play Theatre VCU has ever produced, the production packed the Raymond Hodges Theatre at W.E. Singleton Center for the Performing Arts repeatedly, seeing full houses for at least half of the twelve showings.
Back-to-back jazz
VCU Jazz closes out its semester with two student performances-the Small Jazz Ensembles on Monday evening and Jazz Orchestra II on Tuesday evening.
Directed by various jazz faculty members and comprised of more than 50 students, the SJEs are poised to perform a broad spectrum of musical styles including bebop, swing, bossa nova and Afro-Cuban.
Civil unions are the answer
This has been a tough year in California law for anyone who values sovereignty of the people and seeks liberty. In May, a 4-3 majority of the California Supreme Court struck down Proposition 22, thus allowing same-sex couples to be eligible for government-recognized marriages across California.
The people have spoken
First of all, I have no strong feelings either way on the actual issue that Proposition 8 represents. It was a California State ballot proposition that amended the state Constitution to restrict the definition of marriage to a union between a man and a woman.
