Letters to Editor
Dear Editor,
I want to thank Catherine MacDonald and Rich Griset for their fair and balanced Oct. 20 article, “Palin rallies at raceway.” I can always count on Catherine and Rich to bring me news and analysis that is relevant, accurate and nonbiased. I am glad they are a part of The CT team.

Sarah Palin is an amazing woman and I want to thank Catherine and Rich for writing about her visit to Richmond.

Dear Commonwealth Times staff,
I have been reading The Commonwealth Times for some time now and have enjoyed the majority of the material printed. The comics are something that I mainly avoid because I just don’t like to read them, even in other publications.
The normal multi-panel comics you run haven’t really bothered me because I can ignore those because of the size of them. Please let your other artists know that this is not meant to insult them. The real thing that catches my eye is the single-frame comic by Rich Rose. Now, normally I would ignore any drawings by your artists, but these comics are something I can’t ignore because they are so big. It is not because the art is poorly drawn, because I can clearly see that is part of the point of this comic. But the real thing that bothers me is the amount of space you designate for this comic and the uninspired humor the comic presents.
By uninspired I also mean uncreative. If you’ve ever seen a Demetri Martin performance, you might have an understanding of what I’m talking about. I find this kind art and humor that Rich Rose produces to be remarkably similar. Now, I know a lot of thought can go into this, and the effort is much appreciated. I’m not saying I could do any better but I have attached a sample of my work.
This is not a proposal for you to accept my work, but rather a complaint to make you realize that the comics Rich Rose produces should be put in kids’ books and magazines, not in a college publication. I do not know why you would devote such a large space for a simple and unfunny comic when you could use it for something like ad space.
I sincerely hope you take this seriously, because I know some students at VCU would rather look at something else.
