Men’s soccer battles its way to tie against Louisburg College

Physical and fast-paced, the final
spring home-exhibition game for the
VCU men’s soccer team resulted in a
score of 1-1 at Sports Backers Stadium
Friday.

Louisburg seemed to be the more
aggressive team of the first half. The
team was getting more shots on goal
than VCU and seemed to carry the
momentum into halftime.

After numerous shots from Louisburg,
VCU responded with a counterattack,
and junior David Rosenbaum
(Washington/Woodrow Wilson)
scored VCU’s lone goal. Penalties by
both teams prevented this from potentially
being a much higher-scoring
game and slowed the game down.

Junior Andrew Dykstra (Woodbridge/
Osbourn Park) had a standout
defensive performance and let by only
one goal on the multiple attempts that
Louisburg made.

The Rams return to action at
Georgetown Saturday at noon.
