Thirty-one VCU students will accept donations of new baby clothing,
supplies and toys April 5 from 3:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at Carytown’s Byrd
Theatre, and the donation drive will be held alongside a movie’s screening
at the theater.

“We chose (the film) ‘Juno’ because it’s a good tie-in with the charity,”
student organizer Lauren McDonald said. ” ‘Juno’ is . a popular movie and
addresses the same issues.”

The student’s group, Belvidere & Main, is derived from “Organization
Communications,” a business course.

The group will give donated items to Delta House, a non-profit, Richmond-
based division of Creative Youth Concepts. Delta House aims to help
young mothers who lack supportive environments in which they can raise
children.

“Make a Mother’s Wish” aims to inform about issues addressed by Delta
House and to request donations. Donations are tax-deductible, and at the
event, participants can enter a raffle.

The Byrd Theatre is at 2908 W. Cary St. The theatre will screen “Juno” at
7:15 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Tickets are $1.99. Times might change.
