Four easy steps for creating a better home-court advantage at the Siegel Center 1. Start a black-gold chant. Think about the cheer that UNC fans do – “Tar Heels … Tar Heels.” It’s quick, it’s simple and it’s loud. It’s easy to accomplish at any point in a game.
Four easy steps for creating a better
home-court advantage at the Siegel
Center
1. Start a black-gold chant. Think
about the cheer that UNC fans do
– “Tar Heels … Tar Heels.” It’s
quick, it’s simple and it’s loud. It’s
easy to accomplish at any point
in a game. A chant of “Black …
gold … black … gold” could be a
nice, loud addition to VCU’s list
of cheers.
2. Show up earlier. I don’t think
it’s too much to ask to have the
place fi lled 15 minutes before the
tip. It’s more intimidating and
provides for a better atmosphere.
With that said, props to the people
who fi ll the fi rst fi ve rows of the
student section seemingly hours
before the game.
3. Stop the T-shirts! Stop the
wave! I understand that people
love the free Wachovia shirts that
accompany 3-pointers and dunks,
but nothing seems to take fans
out of the game more, because
it’s such a distraction. The wave
is just unlucky. Don’t believe me?
Start one and see what happens to
the beloved Rams.
4. One more thing: stop yelling
“Oh” during the national anthem.
It’s not funny, cute or entertaining.
It’s disrespectful and childish.
Knock it off, please?
