I really feel for the younger generation these days. Growing up, I got to watch works of art that included, but certainly are not limited to, Voltron, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and G.I. Joe. Today’s kids just don’t have that pre-super-commercialized-but-still-commercialized innocence that children watching today’s TV get.

I really feel for the younger generation these days. Growing up, I got to watch works of art that included, but certainly are not limited to, Voltron, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and G.I. Joe. Today’s kids just don’t have that pre-super-commercialized-but-still-commercialized innocence that children watching today’s TV get. Watching these shows as an adult doesn’t have the same grandeur as it does when you’re younger.

Check out Voltron – that show was awesome. A giant cartoon robot made of smaller lion robots? Classic. It fought giant monsters in space with his lion fists and laser sword. The scope of the show merely reinforces its place in TV greatness. This was BEFORE Power Rangers, people. It was far ahead of its time.

And where would our generation be without the ubiquitous influence of the martial arts reptilian force that was the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles? We learned that colored headbands are acceptable markers of identity and that being a ninja is not only cool but the skill set can be learned from giant mutated rats who decide to name their prot
