A man wearing only a trash bag assaulted a female student on campus Wednesday afternoon. Pam Lepley, director of University News Services, said the student received a bruise on her face but did not seek medical attention.

“A young and obviously unstable man” in his late teens or early 20s struck the student in front of the Singleton Center for Performing Arts just after 2 p.m., Lepley said. University Police responded immediately, “detained him and loaded him into an ambulance and took him to the emergency center at the Medical Center” for evaluation.

Lepley said the student intends to press charges once her assailant’s identity is known.

“He obviously didn’t have any identification on him since he was wearing only a trash bag,” Lepley said.
