A first First Friday
Gallery5 on Marshall Street has always been a popular spot for Richmond’s avant-gardes, and I had the privilege of meeting some of them Friday. As I rushed through the puddles in the rain, I came to an old building and lo and behold, inside there were hundreds of people.
Gallery5 on Marshall Street has always been a popular spot for Richmond’s avant-gardes, and I had the privilege of meeting some of them Friday. As I rushed through the puddles in the rain, I came to an old building and lo and behold, inside there were hundreds of people. It was really crowded, but I eventually made my way upstairs to hear the old time acoustic styles of local musician Danny Willis.
The name of the show was “The Carnival of 5 Fires.” Jeremy Parker, creative director and “ring master,” told me that this event was to be the “catalyst of the art movement in Richmond.”
The exaggerated creative circus showcased many local artists that worked with many types of media.
