In what is obviously a desperate ploy to get themselves mentioned, lawmakers in South Dakota decided to go ahead and ban abortion. We’re not just talking third-trimester bans. These chumps went all out.

They want to make it illegal to get an abortion even if the baby is a result of rape or incest. If having the child would harm the mother, abortion would still be illegal. Certain death to the mother is the only instance in which abortion would be OK.

Both houses of the South Dakota Legislature passed the measure last week. Republican Gov. Mike Round still must sign the bill before it becomes law, but this doesn’t seem like it will be a very big hurdle.

“If the bill is correctly written, then I will seriously consider signing the bill. It would be a direct frontal assault on Roe vs. Wade,” Round told “Good Morning America” on Saturday.

So why now, South Dakota? Even Texas doesn’t have the balls to do this. The funny thing is that the bill’s main sponsor, Democratic Sen. Julie Bartling, literally doesn’t have balls. She’s a woman and a Democrat at that. Talk about a wolf in sheep’s clothing. Shouldn’t you be busy ironing or cooking dinner for your husband, Sen. Bartling?
