Rams fail to put away Dukes

Sophomore Vera Chistova (St. Petersburg, Russia) registered 13 points, and Krystal Vaughn (Baltimore, Md.) added 12 for the Rams, who trailed 37-32 at the half. Brittany Pinkney (Clinton, Md.) and LaKea Jones (Fort Washington, Md.) recorded 11 points apiece.

The Rams never came closer than trailing by five points in the second half, and midway through the second half the Dukes pushed the lead to double digits on a 3-pointer by Tamara Young, who scored a career-high 28 points.

The Rams, who trailed by as many as 14, cut the lead to nine on three occasions, the final time on a layup by Jones.

Michele Cosel (Mechanicsville/Atlee High School), Stephanie Merlo (Bangor, Pa.) and Miranda Smith (Chesapeake/Indian River High School) missed the game for the Rams.
