Vaughn rallies Rams in homecoming
Sophomore Krystal Vaughn (Baltimore, Md.) returned to her hometown and posted her first career double-double, scoring 23 points and grabbing 13 rebounds to lead VCU to a season-opening 65-62 victory over Loyola (Md.).

They started the second half with an 8-0 spurt to close the gap to six points, before the Greyhounds pushed the lead to 13.
The Rams used a 14-4 run, including nine points by Vaughn and a 3-pointer by Michele Cosel (Mechanicsville/Atlee High School), to take their first lead of the game with 5:01 remaining.
Stephanie Merlo (Bangor, Pa.) added 11 points for the Rams, who host Toledo, 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Rams named to All-CAA teams
Junior Ludmilla Francescatto (Fraiburga, Brazil) was named to the All-CAA first team, and outside hitter Ana Luiza De Borja (Florianopolis, Brazil) earned a place on the conference’s all-rookie team.
