A celibate Buddhist monk named Hoa Trung Nguyen from Sydney, Australia, was convicted last year of soliciting a prostitute. A policewoman posing as a prostitute claimed the man was trying to pick her up after he asked her how much she charged for her services.

The monk, who maintained that he was simply curious about the price, was acquitted on appeal by the local court system. The monk said he was very happy the charges were dropped.

Ayolas, Paraguay, is under invasion by a large numbers of beetles. The beetles are being blamed for 16 car crashes in the town. The disruption began after millions of beetles appeared overnight and school and shops had to be closed. A police spokesperson from Ayolas said the invasion is shocking and that they have no idea what caused it.

A German bank discovered that it had been handing out thousands of fake euros to its customers. After a customer alerted police and the money was looked over, they found over $132,000 in fake euros. The bank, which was located in Cologne, is not sure where the money came from. The bills were very new in appearance and all had the same serial number. The bank did not alert the police immediately because it wanted to do an internal investigation first.

The newest invention that has Chinese teenagers excited is a pen that is able to conceal what is being written. The pen, which is also called the invisible pen, uses ink that leaves no marks on paper and is only visible with a tiny purple lamp that is on the other end of the pen. Students use the pen to write in exams. While school officials do not like the invention, one student says the pen is a great invention because she can write in her diary without the fear that her mom will spy on her.

A man found a ring worth $6,300 in a packet of pre-made cooking sauce in Kent, England. Kevin Luetchford said he was cooking his girlfriend a meal with Chicken Tonight sauce when he discovered the ring which turned out to be 150 years old. The man wants to track down the owner of the ring because he feels it must be a family heirloom. Unilever, which makes the product, said it was investigating how the ring got into the sauce.

Star Wars fans wait at wrong theater

A group of Star Wars fans have been told they have spent the last seven weeks waiting outside the wrong theater. The fans had been camping outside of Grauman’s Chinese Theatre in Hollywood and were told that Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of Sith will open at a cinema that is a mile away. The fans have refused to move because they believe the reports are false.
