Point/Counterpoint: The Bush Fear Factor

The main theme of the rhetoric put forth by the Republicans this election year is that President Bush is firm, he does not change his mind and he will fight the terrorists until the day he dies. Sen. John Kerry, on the other hand, is a flip-flopper, he does change his mind and he is not to be trusted.

Seeing double

Throughout his 2004 presidential campaign, Democratic nominee Sen. John Kerry repeatedly accused Republican President George W. Bush of using his policies and politics to create “Two Americas.” These two Americas are obvious to anyone who’s observed that the number of people in the middle class has decreased, causing many to fall into two categories: the very rich or very poor (more so the latter).

Rams fall from first place after 0-2 weekend

The VCU women’s soccer team had two stunning defeats this weekend on the road, losing both decisions by one goal.

The Rams outshot James Madison 17-11 on Friday, but only found the back of the net once in a 2-1 loss.

George Mason battled back from a one-goal deficit in the second half to further darken VCU’s CAA season with a 3-2 victory on a dreary Sunday.

Shell shocked

A three-game winning streak had VCU sitting at the No. 16 spot in the NSCAA/Adidas poll going into a nonconference game with the Maryland Terrapins in College Park.

The Terps came into Saturday’s game ranked nine spots lower than the Rams (tied for 25th with University of Alabama at Birmingham), but cruised for most of the game.
