Let’s start with the ladies. How short are your skirts? To be stylin’ this season, they better be mini. Legs are in, so tone ’em up and show ’em off. Ultra-feminine dresses are also hot, with intricate details such as bows, ribbons, polka-dots, and soft, flowing fabric.
Big, billowy tops matched with skinny pants or a mini will do just fine this season. As for pants, they should be cargo or cropped- a fresher version of Capri. Need a jacket to stay warm on a chilly night? The bomber is pretty hot right now, and it can go with anything from casual jeans to a seductive skirt.
Flip-flops, of course, are being pulled out of the closet, but they’d better be pretty funky. Some cool ones to look for are metallic or detailed with “punk-style” hardware. Your handbags should have emphasis on zippers and buckles, and maybe a few bows here and there.
Face the world in ponytails or buns accented with bangs. Lips should be pink and glossy, and eyes should be sparkly, lined, or smoky- but not all at once. The inspirations this season are Asian, surfer-chic, the 1950’s and romance.
The girly look is definitely in. But, the hippie-chick look is definitely out, so toss out your peasant blouses, gypsy skirts, and fringed bags.
Now it’s time for the boys. The UPS Uniform look has actually become a trend, and it is now in unrelenting style. Not that you have to go out and buy brown shorts and a brown shirt, but your clothes should have a uniform-style look to them. Casual pants have been influenced by uniforms with the use of heavier fabrics, such as canvas.
