Dinner and a movie

Sidney Poitier, plus a slew of other talented actors and actresses, make history fascinating in “Separate But Equal.” This film follows the famous Brown v. Board of Education Supreme Court case from the beginning through its fruition. Beginning in a small town, the movie highlights some of the great inequalities between white and black schools at the time.

American Hi-Fi is low point at concert

Typically, the headlining band of a concert is the highlight of the show. This was not the case at Friday nights concert at Alley Katz. Punk bands Troule Is, Early November, and Count the Stars opened up for rock band American Hi-Fi. Unfortunately for Hi-Fi, they also stole the show.

Space exploration post Columbia

It seems that Americans quickly forgot about Columbia almost a full week after it happened. I mean, with the snow and “Joe Millionaire” choosing Zora and all, who really cares? Well, for one, me. Looking at space in general has always been a passive hobby of mine, for it always interests me to see what new planets they’ve found in other solar systems.

Is there something in the air?

During the past few months, there have been a tremendous amount of sickness and disease in our country. Even in my hometown of Hampton, Va., I have heard many stories about people being in the hospital with pneumonia. Recently we have heard about a sickness targeting young children around the Tidewater area and in North Carolina.

Oh my gosh! This bulletin board is sooo ‘queer’

Last week in my dorm building, there was a pink bulletin board display on one of the boys’ floors that read, “Oh My Gosh! This Bulletin Board is Sooo ‘Queer.'” First I thought: What is this? However, when I spoke to the individual who created the display, he explained that he put that message on the board.
