Annual Strawberry Hill Races promise good ol’ Texan fun

The Strawberry Hill Races are coming to Colonial Downs April 11, and this time, they’re bringing the state of Texas with them.

The tailgating theme this year is “Austin, City without Limits.” For those who register by April 11, many prizes are available in exchange for a little creativity.

‘Hair’ mixes singing, dancing and war

Guest director Barry Bell, who has worked on everything from off-Broadway to feature films, works his magic with the Theatre VCU’s presentation of “Hair: The Musical,” which will begin its run this weekend.

It is set in 1968 in Greenwich Village, NY and is most definitely a period of peace, focusing on the draft, sexuality, racism, and drug use.

Lil’ Kim’s ‘La Belle Mafia’ strikes out

The third time is the charm. That sentiment does not apply for Lil’ Kim. “La Belle Mafia” is Lil’ Kim’s third solo album attempt. In my opinion the only thing she attempted to do was have her album bomb. Don’t get me wrong, she has skills, but they just were not put to the test.

‘Grease’ takes Richmond back to the past

Large crowds flocked to the Landmark Theater Friday night for the opening of “Grease.” After twenty-some years, “Grease” is sill very popular among all age groups. Little girls in the crowd wore poodle skirts and lacy ruffle socks, as a nod to the greaser days.

“That ’70s Show” Eric is pressured by the man who sold him the engagement ring to pay for it or return the ring. Since he has no job and no money he decides to return the ring. Donna continues to have problems rooming with Jackie, but ends up being content with the living situation when she finds out that Jackie paid for her engagement ring without anyone knowing about it.
