Students rock out at Thanksgiving concert

Most people on campus are probably completely unaware of the fact that there was a free concert on Friday, Nov. 18. Tenement Halls, Destroyer, and The Hong Kong were the three acts, and probably also unknown to most of the student body. The Indie Thanksgiving Concert was in the Richmond Salons on the upper level of the University Student Commons.

‘Police? My onion rings are cold!’

A U.S. woman was arrested for calling 911 after a restaurant served her cold onion rings.

Sharita Williams, 30, of Houma, La., told police the food was cold when she received it and the waiter refused to replace it.

So she dialed 911 from the Malt-N-Burger restaurant in Thibodaux, reports the Daily Comet.

Drag ball to come to VCU

“There is freedom in drag,” said Jeremy Kidd, Queer Action president. “This is a new experience for VCU. There hasn’t been anything like this here before, and we want people to learn more about transgenders.”

Queer Action is sponsoring Saturday’s Drag Ball in the University Student Commons to get the word out about different types of lifestyles and to encourage activism in the gay community.

Threats to man who shot domino-toppling sparrow

An animal worker who shot a sparrow after it almost wrecked a world record domino-toppling bid has asked for police protection after receiving death threats.
Several international animal rights groups expressed outrage over the killing of the sparrow that toppled 23,000 of the four million dominos set up for record attempt in Holland.
