The Rams kept the game competitive, trailing 6–3 late in the third quarter, but unfortunately could not overcome Virginia Tech down the stretch as the Hokies scored five of the final six goals to pull away. First-year goalkeeper Lu Doyen played a full hour and had 12 saves off of 23 shots put up by the Hokies.

Men’s basketball at No. 18 Saint Louis University

The Rams’ 10-game win streak came to an end as No. 18 Saint Louis surged past VCU, 88–75, on Friday. VCU led 55–46 with 13 minutes remaining in the second half and appeared to be in the driver’s seat, but the Billikens responded with a dominant 36-11 run within the final 10 minutes. Saint Louis shot efficiently down the stretch while the Rams struggled on offense and committed costly fouls that allowed the Billikens to pull away late.

Baseball vs. University of Illinois
The Rams pitched their way to a win over Illinois on Saturday. Fourth-year starting pitcher Patrick Steitz led the way, throwing five scoreless innings while allowing no earned runs. Steitz struck out five batters and walked two in his outing. The Rams’ pitching staff controlled the game, limiting Illinois’ scoring opportunities and delivering key outs in high-leverage moments.

Women’s basketball at Duquesne University
VCU fell to Duquesne in an A-10 matchup on Friday, 61-72. The Rams battled hard throughout the contest but were unable to outmaneuver Duquesne’s offensive play. Knežević added 12 points, nine rebounds and three steals in the loss.

Baseball vs. No. 6 Coastal Carolina University

VCU fell to No. 6 Coastal Carolina, 3-6. The Chanticleers jumped out early and maintained that momentum throughout the game. Third-year outfielder Michael Petite hit his third home run in seven games and also scored a pair of runs.
