For this week’s pick, we’re going to the NBA as the Brooklyn Nets square off against the Dallas Mavericks at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York on Oct. 30.
Looking at the regular season standings, the Brooklyn Nets took a loss in their season opener against the New Orleans Pelicans.
The Mavericks started the season with a losing record, taking a close loss to the Phoenix Suns on Oct. 19. While the Mavericks are coming off a conference final appearance, the Nets are slowly putting the pieces together to create a winning team, according to CBS sports.
Former NBA All-Star forward Ben Simmons is looking to bounce back for Brooklyn, according to Sports Illustrated. The season opener was rough for Simmons as he finished his debut game with only four points and fouled out of the game.
The Brooklyn Nets will take the win this time in Brooklyn. Coming off of a loss in New Orleans, the Nets will be playing in front of the home crowd. The star studded line up of forward Kevin Durant, guard Kyrie Irving and Simmons will look to get the ball rolling in front of their home crowd. Seth Curry, previously out with an injury, will provide three-point shooting for the Nets. Center Nic Claxton, who finished his season opener with a double-double, will solidify the Net’s ability to take the win.
