Men’s and Women’s Cross Country competed in the NCAA Southeast Regional meet in Rock Hill, S.C., Nov. 9 hosted by Winthrop. Both teams had four athletes competing and were therefore ineligible for any team scoring in the meet.

Women’s

Senior Emily Mulhern led Women’s Cross Country finishing with a time of 20:50.9 and capturing a top-30 finish in the 6K race. Mulhern fell only seven seconds shy of placing in the top-25.

Junior Delaney Savedge was second for the Rams, finishing in the top-90 with a time of 21:41.3. Junior Ashley Brown followed shortly after with a time of 22:22.6.

Brown improved her placement by 23 spots following a checkpoint at the 2.8K mark — the most of any VCU competitor — to help earn herself a top-150 finish.

Redshirt-senior Nichelle Scott capped the race off for the Rams, finishing with a time of 22:51.5 in 180th place.

Men’s

The men were led by junior Bryce Catlett, who finished the 10K course in 31:50.5, earning him a top-75 finish.

Junior Lucas Sidle was second for the Rams with a time of 34:02.9, placing 175th in the meet.

In his final meet in his cross country career, redshirt-junior Michael Villagomez trailed behind Sidle with a time of 34:18.8.

The final runner to cross the line for VCU was freshman Archie Blaes, who was only 10 seconds behind Villagomez. Blaes finished in the top-200 with a time of 34:28.9.

Any teams or athletes that qualified for the NCAA Cross Country Championships will compete Nov. 17 in Madison, Wisc.
