Little Black Girl
Shannon Wright
Too often, society forces our little black girls to assume the role of a woman well before she leaves elementary school. She is to appear as an adult and act like an adult before it is this child’s time to do so. I want to tell all the little black girls, “You are pure, and good, and royalty. You are not the mean and disgusting things people say behind your back. You are a child and have the right to remain a child. You don’t have to grow up just yet.”
