It’s official – VCU’s Homecoming Committee announced Tuesday night that the 2015 homecoming concert artists will be Chance the Rapper and Magic!.

The concert is during homecoming week, Feb. 22-28, in the Siegel Center, with more information on the exact day and time to be announced. Ticket price and availability coming soon.

Most students got the news after the reveal party when Chance himself tweeted “VCU.” Chancelor Bennett, otherwise known as Chance the Rapper, is a rapper, singer and Chicago native.

At just 21 years old, he’s already released two mixtapes, “10 Day” and “Acid Rap,” the latter being listed in best album of 2013 lists from Rolling Stone, Pitchfork and Complex. He has appeared on Childish Gambino’s mixtape “Royalty,” and opened for the artist on his 2012 North American tour. In Aug. 2013, he performed at Lollapalooza, and in the fall of that year he embarked on his own “Social Experiment Tour,” lasting two months. Chance the Rapper has said his greatest influences are Michael Jackson and Kanye West. Magic! is a Canadian reggae fusion band from Toronto, made up of members Nasri, Mark Pellizzer, Alex Tanas and Ben Spivak. Most people know them from their hit single “Rude,” which debuted in Oct. 2013, and chronicles a young man’s struggle to convince his girlfriend’s father to allow him to marry her. The group will open several shows for Maroon 5 in their “Maroon 5 World Tour 2015.”

With these hit musical acts, the “havoc” of homecoming can officially ensue.
