Sexual assault in on-campus housing

A sexual assault that took place on November 8 in on-campus housing was reported to VCU Police on Friday.
The assailant was known to the survivor. The alert stated that the assailant was an acquaintance of the survivor.
In compliance with the Clery Act the VCU student body was notified of the assault via email around 5 p.m. on Friday.
VCU Police remind students in the alert to be on the lookout for suspicious people who may attempt to isolate someone who is intoxicated or has been drinking. Bystander intervention is a known tool to help to prevent campus sexual assault. Further, always seek verbal, sober, clear consent.
