Sunday robbery occurred near campus
A victim reported an off campus robbery near 1208 W. Cary Street early Sunday morning. The incident occurred at approximately 1:30 a.m., but was not reported to police until 5:14 a.m., according to the VCU alert webpage.

The victim was approached by three suspects on the sidewalk, when one suspect asked the victim for a lighter, according to the alert. The victim was then grabbed and pulled between two houses where the suspects robbed the victim of his backpack.
The victim did not report any weapons or injuries.
Each of the suspects are described as black males in their 30s. The first suspect wore glasses and a dark hoodie. The second suspect wore all black clothing and had a dark colored lab and pitbull mixed dog. The third suspect wore all dark clothing, according to the alert.
The robbery happened about a block away from the Cary Street Gym, in the VCU Police Department’s extended jurisdiction.
Students did not receive an email alert or text message about the incident.
Richmond Police are investigating the robbery.
