Overnight assault on campus

VCU alerted students this morning to an aggravated assault on campus that happened overnight. Two victims reported the incident on the 1100 block of Grove Ave. to the VCU Police Department at approximately 1:50 a.m. on Saturday.
Students received the alert via email around 3:20 a.m. This is the first crime alert students received an email about this semester.
Two male victims were walking southbound in the 200 block of North Harrison St. when they were approached by two suspects, according to the alert message. The victims told police the suspects exchanged words with the victims then began punching them. The victims fell to the ground and the suspects began kicking the victims, the alert stated.
The suspects fled the area in the westbound direction of the 1100 block of Grove Ave.
One suspect is a white male in his 20s, approximately 5’10” to 6’0”, and was last seen wearing a black hat with white letters, a black jacket and black pants, police reported. The second suspect is also a white male in his 20s, approximately 6’0. He was seen wearing a black jacket and black pants.
The VCU Police Department is handling the investigation.
