VCU police reported an armed robbery off campus early this morning on the 400 block of N. Hancock Street. A single victim was robbed by two males at approximately 3:09 a.m., according to police.
Both suspects are described as black males in their 20s, between 150 to 170 pounds, approximately 5-foot-10 and with gold teeth. One suspect wore a black and white beanie hat underneath a hooded sweatshirt and dreadlocks. The second suspect wore a dark hoodie and glasses.
The suspects approached the victim in the north alley of West Marshall Street. Both suspects displayed firearms and the victim surrendered his cell phone and wallet, the alert said.
The suspects were seen walking eastbound toward Belvidere Street after the robbery.
Police patrols in the area increased after the robbery. The Richmond Police Department is handling the investigation.
The robbery prompted the first text alert message of crime to students in over a month.
