VCU alerted students to an armed robbery on campus early this morning.
VCU Police reported a male suspect confronted two male students with a handgun in a private apartment at approximately 5:40 a.m.
The suspect forced the victims from the building at 515 W. Main Street to a nearby 7-11 on the 200 block of West Main Street where one victim withdrew cash from an ATM.
The suspect is described as a black male, about 6-feet tall with an average build. He wore a black leather jacket, white T-shirt and black pants. He was last seen running eastbound on West Main Street.
Authorities have not confirmed if the suspect was affiliated with VCU.
This is the second major crime alert in the past two days. VCU police alerted students to an off campus robbery in the Oregon Hill neighborhood early Saturday morning.
Police have increased patrols in the area and the Richmond Police Department is investigating the incident.
