Briante Weber named A-10 Defensive Player of the Year

The player that best embodies VCU’s Havoc style defense has earned conference accolades for the second straight year. In his sophomore season, Briante Weber was named the Atlantic 10 conference’s Defensive Player of the Year. Weber leads the nation in steal percentage (8.0) and is sixth in steals per game (2.7). He was named to the Colonial Athletic Association’s All-Defensive Team in his freshman season.
Along with Weber, VCU senior point guard Darius Theus was named to the A-10 All-Defensive Team. Juvonte Reddic and Treveon Graham earned second-team honors. Freshman Melvin Johnson was named to the conference’s All-Rookie Team.
