Bill Coen: “We’ve had a couple of great matches with them. Coach Smart has done an unbelievable job of getting his team back to the top of this league and I don’t think that was any small task, given all the notoriety that went with the Final Four run last year. I just sat back and admired how he kept his team focused all year long and had them competing at a very high level, and that’s really a tribute to him and his staff and, you know, we’re going to have to have another great effort tomorrow if we hope to compete.”
Jonathan Lee: “I feel like we match up well with them and our mindset is: We played them to a three-point game down there (in Richmond) so we know we’re in the ball game if we rebound, we play defense and execute, so we’re looking forward to just taking it one game at a time and have the same effort, same rebounding effort, same defensive effort.”
Quincy Ford: “They’re a real good team and i think if we matrch their intensity and play a t their level or even play higher than their level it’ll be a close game till the end, and we can really pull out a victory on them. we played it came down to a cose game, it is very possible we can pull out a win.”
All time series:
VCU leads the all-time series between the two schools 7-6. The Rams won the only game on a neutral site to ever occur between the two schools: a game which VCU won through the heroics of school legend Rolando Lamb in March of 1984, which was six years before VCU even joined the CAA.
