- VCU and Delaware both come into Saturday afternoon’s match-up in a five-way tie for second place in the CAA with identical conference records of 3-2. Three teams are currently tied for the conference lead at 4-1: George Mason, Georgia State and Old Dominion.
- While VCU is only returning one player this season in Bradford Burgess, sixth-year head coach Monte Ross is bringing back almost his entire lineup from last year with four returners.
- Delaware is coming off an overtime loss at home to Old Dominion — it was only their second home loss of the season.
- The Blue Hens have been propelled this season by the superb play of guard Devon Saddler, who is second in the CAA in scoring with a resounding 19.1 points per game and big-man Jamelle Hagins, who averages an imposing double-double statline of 13.6 PPG and 11.5 RPG.
- VCU leads the all-time series between the two squads 15-3 and is 5-3 at the Bob Carpenter Center.
- The last time VCU and Delaware played, the Rams escaped out of the Bob Carpenter Center with a 84-74 double-overtime victory last February.
