AT THE HALF
VCU 21, California (Pa.) 19

At the break, here’s what we saw in the first half…

Young Intensity: We liked what we saw from freshman Treveon Graham in the first half. The 6-foot-5, 215-pound guard showed a lot speed and agility, getting to the rim on multiple accounts, but was just unable to finish. He had three points in the first half, all free throws. On one occasion, he drove to the rim, missed the layup and aggressively grabbed his own with one arm before being fouled.

Poor Shooting: In the first half VCU had trouble finding the shots they wanted. The Rams went 6-of-31 from the floor (19.4 percent).

Dirty Daniels: For those wondering about the hot hand of Troy Daniels, here’s the scoop: After missing his first four three-point attempts, Daniels hit his next two, going into the half 2-of-7, all from beyond the arc.

Not in the Game: DJ Haley (head), Heath Houston (foot) and Briante Weber (undisclosed).

Theus injury: Darius Theus went after in inbounds pass from California (Pa.) and left the floor, limping on his own terms. We’ll have more information on that at the start of the second half.
