Dave Giffard won’t hesitate to tell you how competitive the Colonial Athletic Association is.
This is merely his second year in the league and he’s already seen what he thinks is the best the conference has ever offered.
“I think there’s a lot of good teams in this conference,” Giffard said. “It’s probably the best year the league’s ever had, certainly since it went to 12 teams.”
And with three teams currently ranked in national polls it’s hard to argue with him.
Old Dominion is ranked 17th by College Soccer News and the NSCAA, William & Mary is listed 28th by TopDrawer and James Madison is No. 17 on Soccer America’s rankings.
“I think right now we’ve got seven or eight teams that are in a position for an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament,” Giffard said. “So anytime you can get a result within the league is certainly a good thing.”
VCU certainly got that result Wednesday night in a win over JMU, you can read that full story here
