For the first time in seven games, VCU women’s basketball junior guard Courtney Hurt walked off the basketball court having not recorded a double-double.

That didn’t stop her and her teammates from giving seniors Jessica Taylor and Ebony Patterson a perfect sendoff on Senior Day Sunday afternoon by defeating William & Mary 62-56 in their final home game of the regular season.

After having posted her NCAA-leading 22nd double-double of the season at Delaware, Hurt led the Rams as she has all season, scoring 21 points and grabbing eight rebounds on the day.

The Tribe’s Jaclyn McKenna converted a layup with 1:02 remaining in the game to cut the VCU lead to three, but a series of free-throws by Hurt and Robyn Parks sealed the victory for the Rams, who now stand at 17-10 overall and 12-5 in the CAA.

Andrea Barbour and Jennifer Lane provided a solid backup for Hurt, combining for 22 points and six rebounds.

After being held scoreless in the past two games, freshman guard Robyn Parks managed to halt the slump, adding eight points and four rebounds for VCU.

The Rams currently stand at fourth place in the CAA standings, and have earned a first round bye in the conference tournament, which begins on Thursday, March 10 at the Show Place Arena in Upper Marlboro, Md.

VCU will be back in action for its final game of the regular season against Georgia State (11-17, 6-11) in Atlanta on March 2 at 7 p.m.
